Dodd Vickers in magician
Amateur magician and "Game God" Richard Garriott, aka "Lord British," will be traveling to orbit in October 2008. In doing so he will become Earth's sixth private citizen to conduct a space mission aboard the International Space Station as a client of Space Adventures. Word on the street is that Garriott plans to do a bit of magic while in space making him the first astronaut to grace the cover of a magic related magazine (MUM January 2008). Garriott is the son of US astronaut Owen Garriott. The Soyuz TMA-13 is due to be launched from Kazakhstan on October 12. This will not be the first time that a card trick has been performed in space however. In 1991, aboard the Shuttle Columbia, Astronaut James Bagian told Mission Control to pick a card, any card, and performed what may have been the first magic trick in space. Read more on Garriott's space training in a great article from Wired Magazine!
