UPDATED :: According to the AP Newswire, "A David Copperfield show in Las Vegas ended abruptly Wednesday after the illusionist's assistant was injured on stage during a trick involving a 12-foot industrial fan. The show's producer says the man, identified only as Brandon, was rushed to the hospital after a fan blade caught his arm and broke it in several places. The man also suffered injuries to his face. The curtain was immediately closed and the show ended" Chris Kenner told the Las Vegas Review Journal, “It was a pretty scary accident. We’ve done this trick for years. We’ve probably performed it 4,000 times. When the fan is first brought onstage, it faces the audience and blasts air into the first few rows. Despite the demonstration, we always have people saying that it’s fake, or that the blades are rubber. The fan just caught him and pulled him in." According to an eye witness quoted in US Magazine, "One of the assistants dropped to the floor. The curtain came down partially. Blood was everywhere, and the other assistants dragged the victim back. Then the curtain closed all the way. Shortly after, Copperfield came out and said, 'We have an emergency and we might have to end the show...please give me two minutes.' He came back a minute later and said, 'I'm sorry, the show is over...if you want your money back, refunds will be given.' Brandon remains in the hospital after surgery where he has been visited by Copperfield who presented him with a magic set to practice with during his recovery. WATCH COPPERFIELD PERFORM "THE FAN" :
