Don't expect a crowded theater filled with guys wearing top hats and carrying canes at the Canadian Association of Magicians convention in Brossard this weekend warns David Acer. Acer was interviewed by the Gazette for an article promoting the gathering and the saturday night championship performance which he is hosting. "The biggest misconception the public has about magic is the image. We're no longer guys in capes, speaking funny with theatrical gestures," said Acer. "Magic has become more casual, intimate and more real," he said, stressing that high-profile artists such as David Blaine and Criss Angel have shifted perceptions of what a magician does."
