As we previously reported, Joshua Jay was involved in a serious boating accident while vacationing with his family in Ohio. The result was that he suffered a compound fracture of both bones in his left arm and shattered the bones in his wrist for which he has undergone two surgical procedures.  Josh is very appreciative of the outpouring of support that he has received from the magic community via email,  from The Genii Forums, The Magic Cafe and on his Facebook page.  When I spoke with Josh this weekend he told me that the surgery had gone well and that the Doctors were pleased with where things were after his first post-op visit. He had one minor complication with a block that was in the arm which had to be adjusted. Otherwise, it is just a waiting game. During the surgery one plate and five screws were needed to repair the damage and the surgery which resulted in an incision that covers the length of this left thumb and 5 1/2 inches of his forearm. He has not yet recovered feeling in his ring or pinky fingers, but they are confident that this will repair itself over time. Josh did say that he was very happy with the mobility that he has in the rest of his hand but the cast that he is in hasn't yet allowed him to pick of the pasteboards. As always, keep your messages of encouragement coming and we'll keep you updated as there is anything new to report. In the meanwhile, Josh is actively engaged in his other magic venture, Vanishing Inc., which has just released The Magic of Jon Allen. You can show him your support by poking your head in over there and having a look around as well. There are even several free tricks available for download from the new book.
