David Copperfield began his first tour of Australia in 10 years this week to rave reviews. The illusionist described his show to ABC News:
"It's all about dreams, making dreams come true," Copperfield said.
"It's about my personal life, about my grandfather's dreams, my dreams.
"Whether it's showing the audience how it's possible to win the lottery - my grandfather's dream - or if people wish for the perfect car, the perfect motorcycle we make that happen.
"You laugh a little bit, cry a little bit and go 'wow' a lot."
He described the humorous aspects of the show to the Age:
"Audiences here don't expect me to be as goofy as I am," Copperfield said after his first Brisbane performance.
"The first part of the show they're looking and going, 'are we supposed to laugh?'
"Then it's 'Oh ok, he's kind of stupid, this is funny'."
In addition, David took a break from the tour to introduce his therapy program "Project Magic" into the Australian Health Care system at a seminar held at the University of Sydney on Saturday:
"It's a program that uses magic as a form of therapy for people with disabilities, where magic is taught to patients in hospitals to help them gain their dexterity and their coordination.
