The Colorado Springs Independent offered up congratulations to Mark Weidhass in advance of him assuming the role of National President of the Society of American Magicians on July 3rd. In the article, Mark says:

This has been in the works for many years. Since moving to Colorado in 1996, I joined the local club of magicians that get together every month. I was President of the local club and appointed to be the Colorado Representative for the State of Colorado to the National Organization. I am a worker, and several other Officers saw that and encouraged me to the next levels. I continued to work up the chairs, so this year will be the highest I can get. The term is for a year, and I will use it to visit other magic clubs around the US and the world (a trip to England and Japan is planned) and promote the benefits of membership and meet the members ... I will continue to perform here locally, and am already working with the Pikes Peak Library District for the All Pikes Peak Reads program this fall with a theme on innovation. I have a family/adult program that will demonstrate how magicians have been innovative since the mid-1800's to now.
