MAGIC MAN AT CANNES

According to Screen Daily, American World Pictures feature film starring Billy Zane, "Magic Man", will be introduced to buyers at Cannes. Zane plays the role of a Las Vegas magician in the thriller which also features Armand Assante and Estelle Raskin.
Synopsis: Tatiana (Estelle Raskin) and her beautiful girlfriends are on holiday in Las Vegas, City of Illusion. The daughter of a magician's assistant killed tragically during an illusion gone wrong, Tatiana is drawn to Krell Darius' (Billy Zane) extremely popular magic show. Entrancing audience members with the help of his beautiful assistant Samantha (Bai Ling), Darius' charm, wit and magical talent prove difficult for Tatiana to resist.

CELEBRATING THE MAGIC OF TONY CURTIS

On June 13th, the Jules Verne Festival and the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation will present The Magic Of Tony Curtis. The goal of the event is to revive the Golden Age of glamour and entertainment in downtown Los Angeles with a series of star studded screenings including the 1953 classic Houdini and Some Like it Hot, both starring Tony Curtis. Live, just before the screening of Houdini, escape artist Curtis Lovell will perform a tribute to the Houdini Water Torture Escape. The Magic of Tony Curtis is the fourth installment in the once-in-a-lifetime series of “Jules Verne Legendaire Awards" which have previously featured such films as Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

The Las Vegas Review Journal has published its' list of Favorite Las Vegans for 2009 and magician Mac King finds himself named "Favorite Male." NewsBlaze.com has published an interview with Mac discussing his career and this recent honor. According the several Sources, including the New York Post, Magician David Blaine is engaged to French model Alizee Guinochet. "The Post's Lawrence Schwartzwald spotted the lovebirds kissing in Central Park over the weekend, and the sleight-of-hand wizard confirmed they're engaged. Gui nochet, 23, even showed off two "pre- engagement" gold bands, one with small diamonds. Blaine quipped he'll get her a "real" ring "when the economy improves." Blaine was also said to be a bit embarrassed when they took the picture of the couple above because of his current weight.

MAGICIAN VS MARTHA (PART 2)

As we first reported in November of last year, sleight of hand performer and "hand model" Patrick Albanese filed suit against K-Mart and Martha Stewart after he suffered injury after the collapse of a chair sold under the Stewart brand. According to reporting from the National Ledger, "his attorney, Guy Cook, says that even though Albanese tip was reattached he still has some loss of feeling in the fingertip and that makes it hard for him to pick the banjo, part of his act." The lawsuit has been settled out of court, but the terms are confidential.
