MOVED BY MAGIC
NY Times writer Ben Brantley has been moved by magic. So much so in fact that he's written and effusive review of Derren Brown's London stage show "Enigma." He even goes so far as to compare parts of the act to the work of William Shakespeare. For his big finale, he enlists the whole audience in arranging seven of its members on stage into patterns of. . . Well, that would be telling. Suffice it to say that he creates the illusion that nothing, after all, is random, that beneath the surface, everything ties together and rhymes as if in a perfectly structured sonnet. I found myself unexpectedly thinking of the final scenes of Shakespeare’s pastoral comedies, wherein the impossibly tangled sorts itself out and grateful wonder rules. READ MORE
